Creator Renaissance
We’re living in a golden era for creators and artists, with simple yet advanced tools available for both creation and distribution at your fingertips. Monetising one’s art though, as ever, is still a massive challenge.
It’s believed the sign of a healthy economy is the presence of a large ‘middle-class’. The creative industry is anything but, with a very small percentage of superstars earning life-changing amounts, whilst the rest is a long tail of people struggling to make ends meet, with little in the middle.
Historically, creators and artists have focused on their craft, and relied on platforms, studios and labels for distribution. Now, they can do it all on their own and arguably, HAVE to do it on their own. It’s going to require becoming a ‘Renaissance’ creator, learning to how to create, communicate, market and monetise. And from there, effectively become a CEO as you build a team to produce content for different platforms.
As we mentioned previously, the renaissance in tools and platforms will give rise to renaissance creators, furthering the viability of making a healthy living from being a creator.
